Social media influencers today tend to test the limits to get more clicks, followers, and cash. But there are times when those lines are crossed not just in controversial ways — but criminal ways.
One such disturbing example is that of Logan Guminski, a self-described “dog mom” and Florida influencer.
Guminski was arrested for allegedly performing sexual acts on her pet Chihuahua and recording the abuse.
Even more shocking? She allegedly posted the videos on Instagram, and was arrested after an anonymous tip was called in. It has caused outrage, disgust, and serious charges under the law.
Let’s go through what happened, the legal implications and why this case is a sobering reminder of the dark side of social media fame.

How Logan Guminski Was Caught: A Tip, an Investigation, and a Confession
The investigation began based on an anonymous tipster who stated they saw video containing Guminski on Instagram captioned to also include detail of her being sexually active with her dog, the Marion County Sheriff’s office (MCSO) reported. Assigned to the case, Detective Jordyn Batts quickly found explicit videos and photos of Guminski with her pet.
On March 21, detectives asked to interview Guminski, who allegedly admitted to being a “content creator” who sold sexually graphic material on the internet. —that she confessed to:
- Recording herself performing sexual acts on her Chihuahua.
- She then sent the video to another social media user who paid her $500 for it.
- Having done so with another dog in the past.
Cops recovered evidence that incriminated her on her mobile device, and she was arrested on charges of Sexual Activity Involving an Animal and Filming Sexual Activity Involving an Animal — both felonies in Florida.

The Legal Fallout: What Does It Mean Now?
Bestiality laws differ from state to state, but Florida is not kidding around when it comes to these crimes. Under Florida Statute 828.126, sexual activity with an animal is a third-degree felony, with a possible punishment of up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Recording and distributing such material is also subject to additional charges.
Guminski’s case is especially so as, in addition to abuse of the women, she also reportedly monetized the abuse, proving how some turn social media into a marketplace of illegal and unethical goods and services. If she is convicted, she could be sentenced to substantial prison time and forced to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
The Dark Side of Influencer Culture
Guminski’s case is an extreme example of how that desperation for online fame and money can lead to unthinkable actions. Though most influencers produce benign (if occasionally cringeworthy) content, a minority stray beyond legal and ethical lines.
What Can Be Done?
Platforms Need to Step Up ModerationInstagram and other social media sites depend on user reports to flag illegal content. Fewer electronically-automated human review teams and a more proactive approach to AI detection could prevent this material from being spread.
