The Serum Institute of India (SII) has developed the first indigenous vaccine. It will be launched next week said Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan next week and then soon it will be available in the domestic market next week. According to information from the source, this vaccine will be more affordable. Currently, a vaccine produced by two foreign companies, Pfizer and GlaxoSmithkline, is used for pneumonia.
The Indian drug regulator gave the market approval to the serum institute for the pneumococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine in July. The drug regulator took this decision after reviewing the clinical trial data for the first, second and third stages by the institute. This trial was done in India and the African country of Gambia.
The country’s first pneumonia vaccine will be used as an active immunization against pneumonia and invasive diseases (fast-spreading diseases) in children caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae.

In a letter to Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Additional Director (Government and Regulatory Affairs) of Serum Institute, Prakash Kumar Singh, wrote that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious plan moving towards self-reliant India, Serum Institute amidst another historic milestone amid Corona pandemic has achieved.

Annually more than 1 lakh children die at a young age
