Indian team opener Rohit Sharma made a great comeback in the second Test match being played in Chennai. Rohit, who has been struggling to play big innings for some time, achieved his rhythm by batting tremendously here. He batted stormily and did not give any chance to the England bowlers.
Rohit completed his seventh Test century in 130 balls on the very first day. During this, he hit 14 fours and two sixes. Hitman Sharma made many records with his brilliant innings.
This is the seventh century of 33-year-old Rohit’s Test career and he has scored seven centuries on his home ground. He is the first Indian player to score all his centuries on home ground.
Apart from this, Rohit has become the only cricketer who has scored centuries in all formats against four countries (Sri Lanka, West Indies, South Africa and England).
Rohit Sharma now has 40 centuries in international cricket with a century against England. He has scored seven centuries in Test cricket, 29 in ODIs and four centuries in T20. Rohit has left behind Mohammad Yusuf of Pakistan and Tillakaratne Dilshan of Sri Lanka, both of whom scored 39-39 centuries.
Currently, only Virat Kohli (70) and David Warner (43) are ahead of Rohit Sharma. For India, only Sachin Tendulkar (100), Virat Kohli (70) and Rahul Dravid (48) have scored more centuries than Rohit Sharma.
Let me tell you that this is Rohit’s fourth century in the World Test Championship. In 13 innings of the Test Championship, he has scored more than 800 runs at an average of 66.
