Rishi Dhawan was born in Himachal Pradesh
Rishi Dhawan was born on 19 February 1990 in a middle-class Hindu family in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. His father’s name is Ram Prakash Dhawan. His mother’s name is Shaili Dhawan, who is a skilled housewife. In his family, apart from his parents, he has a younger brother named Raghav Dhawan and who is also a cricketer like him.
Rishi Dhawan started his cricket career with Himachal Pradesh U-19 team
Rishi Dhawan started his career as an opening batsman where he played cricket with his brother Raghav and made it to the Himachal Pradesh Under-19 team. He started his career in Cooch Behar Trophy 2006 as an opening batsman and he scored a triple century which made his performance highly appreciated by the people.
Rishi Dhawan had a stellar Ranji Trophy campaign between 2013-2015
He established himself as a medium pace bowler in Himachal Pradesh’s Ranji team and took 49 wickets in the 2013–14 Ranji Trophy and 40 wickets in the 2014–15 season.

He made his ODI debut on 17 January 2016 against Australia and then made his T20 International debut on 18 June 2016 against Zimbabwe.

Rishi Dhawan started his IPL career with Punjab in the year 2008 and then in the year 2013, he was signed up by Mumbai Indians. Then, from 2014 to 2016, Rishi Dhawan was seen playing in the IPL with Kings XI Punjab and in the year 2017, he became a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team.
He has played 27 matches in his IPL career so far in which he has taken 20 wickets with 154 runs and in the year 2022, he was once again playing for the Punjab Kings team. Rishi Dhawan returned to the IPL after a six year absence. He was bought by the Punjab Kings team during the IPL 2022 auction for Rs. 55 lakhs. It was a great comeback story for the 33 year old cricketer.
Rishi Dhawan appeared with a face shield during IPL 2022
Rishi Dhawan suffered a facial injury during a match which needed surgical repair. To prevent further damage to his face, Rishi Dhawan wore a face shield in a match against the Lucknow Supergiants. Speaking about his situation, Rishi Dhawan said: “I’m making an IPL comeback after four (six) years so it was a little disheartening when I got injured in the Ranji Trophy. I had to go through surgery which ruled me out of the first four matches but I’m totally fine and available for selection now. I’ve been training hard and hope to have a strong comeback. It was absolutely a low phase for me because I had worked so hard to make a comeback and I finally got a chance in the IPL after four (six) years. I performed well in domestic cricket. I tried continuously for three to four years to make a comeback so I was a little scared wondering whether I would miss out on playing due to my injury. But this happens in cricket. Sometimes we are happy and other times we are sad. My experience has helped me realise that there will be ups and downs.”
