Though, with a 4K show and actually probably the most power-hungry laptop computer {hardware} available on the market, battery life remains to be a giant hurdle for the Razer Blade 15. However this time round, there is a direct problem to the Razer Blade 15 coming instantly from Razer. The Razer Blade 14 is neck-and-neck with the Blade 15 in efficiency, on the similar worth level. And, it is much more moveable as well. Plus, should you're doing plenty of inventive work that requires CPU heavy lifting, the Fifth-generation AMD Ryzen processors within the Blade 14 frankly blow the Intel silicon out of the water.
The solely factor that the 15-inch Razer Blade has over the Blade 14 at this level is the 4K display, however even then we may take it or go away it on a laptop computer show in any case.
Design
The Razer Blade 15's design hasn't modified a lot lately, and we're not precisely complaining. It nonetheless has the all-black unibody aluminum chassis and the Razer emblem illuminated on the highest of the laptop computer. There's additionally a big trackpad and among the greatest audio system in a gaming laptop computer at this time. And, after all, a keyboard that is merely to die for.
For a laptop computer that homes such highly effective {hardware}, it is also extremely skinny and light-weight, weighing in at simply 4.4lb and measuring simply 0.67 inches thick. This makes the Razer Blade 15 probably the most moveable laptops in its class, and avid gamers that do not wish to sacrifice efficiency whereas touring are going to search out loads to like right here.
However this portability is betrayed a minimum of a bit of bit by the big charging brick. It's positively smaller than some previous variations of this laptop computer, but it surely nonetheless provides a little bit of bulk to the package deal – particularly for the reason that Razer Blade 15 nonetheless cannot get you a full day of labor on battery energy, extra on that later.
The model we're right here is the one with the 4K contact OLED show, and wow is it attractive. It has a mean brightness round 313 nits, which is not the brightest on the earth, however when mixed with its potential to hit 109% of the sRGB colour spectrum, it is merely a good looking show to have a look at, whether or not enjoying video games or simply binging Netflix in mattress.
Luckily the media enchantment does not finish with the show, the audio system are additionally merely unimaginable. We took the laptop computer on a trip in Colorado, spending two weeks utilizing it to look at TV, hearken to music and, after all, play video games, and the audio system sound nice in all of these use-cases.
Bass is thick and it will get loud sufficient to fill a room. And not plenty of element will get misplaced within the high-end throughout bass-heavy songs or action-packed sequences in films and video games. It's nonetheless not going to beat shopping for a pleasant gaming headset or something, however the audio system positively get the job executed.
Other Windows laptops are beginning to meet up with Razer relating to trackpads, however the Razer Blade 15 nonetheless has the most effective trackpads this aspect of the most effective MacBooks. It's correct, easy, and enormous sufficient to simply use gestures with out by accident brushing your fingers exterior of the field.

It's positively a pleasant contact, however we're nonetheless not on the level the place trackpads are good for enjoying PC video games, so that you're most likely going to wish to pair this laptop computer with a gaming mouse both manner.
The keyboard can be nearly as good as ever, with loads of journey and a few stunning RGB lighting. Travel is good and deep, and we're in a position to kind on it rapidly and precisely, which is greater than will be mentioned for the 2018 MacBook Pro we're often engaged on.
As for ports, there's truly loads contemplating how skinny this laptop computer is. On the best aspect, you could have a Kensington lock, HDMI, a USB-A and a Thunderbolt 4 port. Over on the left, you could have the charging port, one other Thunderbolt 4, two extra USB-A ports and a combo 3.5mm audio jack. There's no scarcity of laptops which might be ditching many of those ports within the title of constructing laptops thinner and lighter, however Razer has thus far resisted the urge – lets hope it continues to take action.

Metro Exodus (1080p, Ultra): 65 fps; (1080p, Low): 156 fps
Any gaming laptop computer with an Eleventh-generation Core i7 processor and an RTX 3080 goes to completely dominate any sport you throw at it, however what was shocking is how properly this laptop computer dealt with video games at 4K.
The cell model of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 is not practically as highly effective because the desktop variant, and so it begins to wrestle a bit at 4K, particularly when options like ray tracing are delivered to the desk. However, enjoying video games like Middle Earth: Shadow of War and Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, we're in a position to utterly max the graphics settings and nonetheless get a framerate above 60 fps.
There are a few particularly heavy video games the place we have now to decrease graphics settings a bit, particularly The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, however these video games are extremely heavy and solely probably the most beefy desktop methods can max them out at 4K in any case.
Our benchmarks mainly replicate this, simply scoring 72 fps and 65 fps in Total War: Three Kingdoms and Metro Exodus, respectively. And yeah, these are technically older video games, however they nonetheless push {hardware} to its limits, which is why we use them in testing.
It's additionally only a stable PC total, scoring 8,555 factors in Cinebench, and 6,797 factors in PCMark 10, which is a rating that's solely beat by the Razer Blade 14.
Battery life
It wasn't so way back that we simply assumed that any gaming laptop computer was simply going to have dangerous battery life, however that is not the case anymore. There are a ton of gaming laptops just like the Asus ROG Strix G15 that may attain greater than eight hours of battery life – and that laptop computer even has higher efficiency than the Razer Blade 15.

Instead, within the PCMark 10 battery life take a look at, the 2021 Razer Blade 15 lasts simply six hours and 16 minutes, and may't even break 5 and a half hours in our video playback take a look at. It's actually a disgrace, as a result of in any other case this laptop computer is a superb alternative for carrying round with you on the go.
Now, six hours of battery life is not the worst factor on the earth. You're nonetheless going to have the ability to get via loads of work earlier than the laptop computer dies on you, however compared with comparable gadgets, it is nonetheless lower than we would prefer to see.
Camera and microphone
One of the largest pet peeves we have developed over the past yr or so of testing laptops in lockdown is that, fairly merely, laptop computer cameras suck. Especially with Ultrabooks that prioritize practically invisible bezels that do not actually do something however look fairly. But fortunately, the Razer Blade 15 has an unimaginable webcam.
You're getting a 1080p webcam, and it truly seems to be fairly nice in calls – a minimum of higher than we often see in a laptop computer. The microphone additionally sounds nice, selecting up our voice with out an excessive amount of background noise distracting our associates whereas we're in Discord or chatting over Zoom.
Software and options
Luckily, there is not a lot bloat with the Razer Blade 15. It does come pre-installed with Razer Synapse – adore it or hate it – however the preinstalled software program mainly ends there. That signifies that while you pull the laptop computer out of its field it's going to boot up fast the primary time, and the SSD is your canvass to put in something you need, and nothing that you do not want.
The webcam additionally has an IR sensor, which suggests it helps Windows Hello, although we want Razer included a fingerprint sensor as properly. Still, facial unlocks are fast and setting it up is as simple as ever.
