Alien: Isolation is undoubtedly one of the most popular horror titles of the Xbox One generation, but players have long reported mixed experiences with its performance, with some suggesting it runs perfectly fine on any console they’ve tried it on, while others have reported bouts of lag and stuttering – even on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
The game was recently added to the list of FPS Boost titles on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, but it doesn’t appear to have fixed the issue, and Xbox’s Jason Ronald has confirmed the team is investigating:
Looking back over the years, players have highlighted that the game’s frame rate has sometimes dropped to severe levels on Xbox One, and a whole bunch of fixes have been suggested including changing the hard drive the game runs on, clearing the console’s cache, and even clearing the console’s Blu-Ray persistent storage!
Then, the release of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S this past November appeared to affect Alien: Isolation once again – including for those who had no issues on Xbox One – with reports of “big dips in framerate, like single digits.”
Of course, assuming the eventual fix will be applied to the FPS Boost version of the game, players on Xbox One may still need to utilise workarounds in the future, but hopefully the issue disappears forever on Series X and S very soon.
