SINGAPORE: All batches of Sunflower Model Peanut Powder have been recalled in Singapore after extreme ranges of aflatoxins had been discovered within the product.
The Singapore Meals Company (SFA) on Friday (Mar 19) directed producer Yiak Say Hold Meals Industries to challenge the recall.
The product was made from a batch of peanut powder sourced from Li Kwong Businesses, which SFA is investigating following one other recall earlier this week involving its merchandise.
Investigations are ongoing for different peanut merchandise manufactured by Li Kwong Businesses, mentioned SFA.
"Aflatoxins are known to be genotoxic and carcinogenic, and exposure through food should be kept as low as possible," the company mentioned.
"Aflatoxins can occur in foods such as groundnuts, as a result of fungal contamination before and after harvest."
Those that have bought Sunflower Model Peanut Powder are suggested to not devour it, says SFA.
Those that have consumed it and have considerations about their well being ought to search medical recommendation.
Customers could contact their level of buy for enquiries.
