New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the squad for the Pakistan series due to a spinal fracture. New Zealand Cricket on Wednesday confirmed Ferguson’s injury, saying he would need four to six weeks of rest before returning to practice sessions.

New Zealand will play a two-Test series in addition to the three T20s against Pakistan, which will begin on 26 December.
Ferguson underwent scans and imaging after the recent T20 series against the West Indies. In which a fracture was found on the left side of his back.
Ferguson will not require surgery, but he may have to stay away from playing this summer. He will have to spend a period of rest and rehab before any return to cricket. New Zealand coach Gary Stead said Ferguson’s exit was disappointing. They also expected Ferguson to return soon.
