SINGAPORE: A 57-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft, stated police on Sunday (Aug 8).
At about 1.45am on Sunday, the police have been alerted to a case of housebreaking at a unit positioned alongside Carpmael Road near Joo Chiat.
The man was detained alongside Onan Road by cops inside quarter-hour of the crime being reported, stated police.
Cash amounting to S$1,890 and different properties have been recovered from his possession.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the person is believed to be concerned in one other related case of housebreaking and theft within the neighborhood.
He might be charged on Monday with housebreaking and theft. If discovered responsible, he might be jailed for as much as 10 years and fined.
The police suggested all property homeowners to undertake the next crime prevention measures:
- Secure all doorways, home windows and different openings with good high quality grilles and closed-shackle padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short time
- Refrain from preserving massive sums of money and valuables in your premises
- Install a burglar alarm, movement sensor mild(s) and/or shut circuit surveillance digicam(s) to cowl the entry factors into your premises. Ensure that they're examined periodically and in good working situation.
