‘The Kerala Story’ Controversy: Sashi Tharoor and CM Stance
Several political figures expressed their disapproval of the film and called for its ban shortly after the trailer was released on Youtube. Shashi Tharoor, a leader of Congress, recently asserted, “It may be your Kerala story. It is not “our” Kerala story.”
Let me stress, I am not calling for a ban on the film. Freedom of expression does not cease to be valuable just because it can be misused. But Keralites have every right to say loud & clear that this is a misrepresentation of our reality. https://t.co/sEIG91mjSP

Tharoor underlined in a tweet that he was not requesting that the movie be banned. Just because something can be utilized improperly doesn’t make it any less useful. But Keralites have every right to assert that this is an wrong portrayal of their reality.
Pinarayi Vijayan, the chief minister of Kerala, attacked the upcoming film “The Kerala Story,” saying it seems to have been purposefully manufactured to sow division. I lt potentially can ignite hatred among communities and against the state as well. He claimed that Sangh Parivar’s lie factory produced this fabrication.
