RRB (Railway Recruitment Board) has announced the official notification for RRB NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Category) Exam. The exam aims to recruit eligible candidates for different posts of Goods Guard, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Assistant Station Master, and so on. RRB has released a total of 1.3 vacancies for all railway job posts.

RRB NTPC Exam involves the following stages, and recruitment is made on the basis of merit. It is crucial to know the RRB NTPC Syllabus for preparation of the written test. 

  • First stage of CBT  
  • Second stage of CBT
  • Computer-Based Aptitude Test or Typing Skill Test (as applicable)
  • Medical Examination or Document Verification

Once the students qualify for CBT (Computer Based Test) stage 1 and stage 2, they need to appear for the CBAT or typing skill test. Based on the performance at all these stages, students are selected for document verification and medical examination.

Key points to keep in mind about RRB NTPC 1st stage CBT exam:

  • The exam duration is 90 minutes for every student except PWDs.
  • For PWDs, the exam duration is 2 hours.
  • The passing marks for various category students are different. The minimum percentage of marks to qualify for the exam for the different categories is EWS: 40%, UR: 40%, OBC: 30%, SC: 30%, and ST: 25%.
  • RRB NTPC 1st stage exam includes 100 questions of 100 marks. Each question carries 1 mark.
  • RRB NTPC exam has a negative marking scheme, i.e., 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.

Key points to keep in mind about RRB NTPC 2nd stage CBT exam:

  • The exam duration is 90 minutes.

  • There is a negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.

Exam Pattern of CBAT:

  • Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) exam is only for those candidates who have applied for the posts of Station Master and Traffic Assistant.
  • Only those candidates can apply for CBAT who have scored at least 70% marks in the 2nd stage of CBT.
  • The students can appear CBAT exam in two language options: English and Hindi.
  • Students should try to attempt all the questions as CBAT has no negative marking.

  • RRB NTPC Typing Skill Test is qualifying in nature.
  • This test is conducted for those students who want to apply for Senior Clerk Cum Typist, Accounts Clerk, Senior Time Keeper, Junior Clerk Cum Typist, and Junior Time Keeper.
  • Students are not allowed to use any editing tool during the typing test.
  • For Hindi Typing, students will get only Mangal and Kruti Dev font on their computers.

Document Verification:

  • Based on the performance in both the stages of CBT, CBAT, and Typing Test, students are called for the document verification round.
  • Students need to show their original documents of Education Certificate, Experience Certificates, Category Certificate, SSC Marksheet, etc.
