Helen Mirren cast as villain in Shazam: Fury of the Gods

Hollywood veteran Helen Mirren can be enjoying the principle villain in DC Movies and New Line’s upcoming superhero film Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Mirren, the star of movies equivalent to The Queen, Hitchcock and Crimson collection, will play Hespera, the villainous daughter of the god Atlas, reported Selection.

Zachary Levi will return because the titular superhero for the film, which is a sequel to 2019 hit Shazam!.

David F Sandberg, who helmed the primary half, can be coming again to direct the sequel from a screenplay by Henry Gayden.

The follow-up will proceed the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic phrase “Shazam!” is struck by the Dwelling Lightning of the gods and reworked into his grownup superhero alter ego, Shazam.

Actor Asher Angel will reprise his function of teenager Billy Batson.

Newcomer Rachel Zegler, who is about to make her display debut as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s tackle basic film West Facet Story, may also function within the new film in a key function.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods can be produced by Peter Safran by means of The Safran Firm. The movie is about to debut in June 2023.

Mirren will subsequent function in F9: The Quick Saga, wherein she is reprising her function of Magdalene “Queenie” Shaw.
