Demon Slayer Movie Tops Box Office with latest international opening

After the blockbuster success in Japan, the anime movie ‘Demon Slayer: Mugen Train ‘has once again taken the top spot with its latest international opening.

The Japanese anime movie ‘Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’ has boomed in the international markets. The record-breaking Japanese anime movie has carried its box-office buzz to Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train has dominated the Japanese box office since its release in October 2020. A direct sequel to the 2019 anime series, ‘Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’, has been such a hit in Asian markets that it is now the top-grossing anime film of all .

Following the blockbuster success in Japan, the film is expanding its release to other international markets. It looks like it will be equally successful in Western countries.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train has finally been released in the major UK markets, Australia and New Zealand. Distributor for those areas Madman Entertainment has reported that the film has opened in Australia and New Zealand at the number one spot in both regions. While we wait for the official numbers, it’s a clear indication that the anime movie will dominate the box office for the next few days.

In North America, the big anime movie has yet to get an official release date. There has reportedly been a super-limited theatrical release in Miami, Florida, United States to qualify for the award season. According to the report, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train had to be shared publicly to be eligible for this year’s Academy Awards. The film is currently investigating a nomination for best animated film.

There is no announcement of the full and official release as of now as COVID-19 is still closing cinemas across the country. However, we can’t expect a full release until this year as the anime’s second season is confirmed for later this year. We have to remind you that the movie is a direct sequel to the first season and the second season of Demon Slayer starts right after the events of the Mugen train.

At the time of writing, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’s worldwide gross collection stands at a whopping $ 401.5 million. It is now the highest grossing anime movie of all time and the highest grossing Japanese movie of all time.
