The X1 is the first car in this list of popular BMW cars. The X1 is a practical and easy-to-live-with FWD SUV. A good alternative to the 2-Series and the 3-Series sedan, the X1 offers higher ground clearance, albeit using the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol pushing out 230 bhp paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. At the price of Rs 41.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the X1 is a value-for-money offering that is better than most of its European compatriots. The infotainment system can feel a little dated, with the 8.8inch screen offering in-dash navigation and no Android Auto support. BMW has already shown the next generation of the X1 set for a launch in early 2023. The new model is expected to come with a much beefier design and a newer engine pumping 241 bhp.

Sporty and practical, the BMW X3 is the next car on this list. Amongst all the BMW cars on this list, this one is quite a value for money buy. However, it’s a bummer that the Indian market doesn’t get the turbo 3.0-litre inline-six engine. The current iteration of the 3-Series comes powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol/diesel unit pushing out around 250 bhp and 400 nm of torque. The system comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and rear-wheel drive configuration. Giving the compact dimensions of the saloon, the BMW 3-Series is one of the best handling packages available at this price point.

BMW 5-Series

Next car on the list is BMW’s most popular and a benchmark for sporty, fun-to-drive sedans. Equipped with either a 2.0-litre turbo petrol (530i) or a 3.0-litre inline-six diesel (530d), the car is a proper beast. Given the price point, space and features on board, one can argue this is a better pick than the BMW 7-series.

Equipped with a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol/diesel engine, the car produces up to 335 bhp (740Li/740Ld. For the ones who want more, the company also offers a M-Sport variant that takes power and handling to the max.
