But they struggled to sustain the momentum, losing four in a row and finishing a disappointing seventh.

Rajasthan Royals (RR): 

Much was expected of Rajasthan Royals, who reached the final in the 2022 season. The Sanju Samson-led side made an excellent start to the 2023 season, winning five out of the eight matches. But four straight defeats put them under immense pressure. Meanwhile, in their home against Royal Challengers Bangalore they were bundled out for just 59. The 2022 IPL runner-up failed to make the playoffs despite a victory in their last game of the season.

Delhi Capitals (DC):

Even in the absence of Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals did boast a squad good enough to qualify for the playoffs. However, the franchise shot themselves on the foot as they lost their first five games. Victories over Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad restored some confidence, but they struggled to maintain momentum and lost their way again. With just five wins, the Capitals finished ninth in the table, failing to make the playoffs for a second successive season.
